In order to ensure that the operation of the INAO develops in tune with international trends and best practises, the Office has established good relations and co-operation with its overseas counterparts.
The Office has a long history of co-operation with the national audit offices of the Nordic countries. The national audit offices of the Nordic countries arrange regular meeings and seminars where they share know-how and expertise.
The INAO also participates in the work of international associations in the field of state audit, EUROSAI and INTOSAI. The Office’s employees frequently attend both INTOSAI and EUROSAI conferences and seminars.
The Office participates in the auditing of international organisations of which Iceland is a member, e.g. EFTA. The Director of the Office’s Financial Audit Division, Ingi K. Magnússon, is a member of the EFTA Board of Auditors (EBOA) and employees have taken active part in the auditing of projects funded by the EFTA Development Fund.
Moreover, the Office has established bilateral ties with the national audit offices of several countries. As an example, the Office has formed strong ties with the UK National Audit Office, and has enjoyed its assistance in various projects through the years.
